Pressure: Measures gas or liquid pressure. Pressure is an expression of the force required to stop a fluid from expanding. The transducer generates a signal from the pressure imposed upon it. Torque: Measures the torque (or twisting motion) on a static or rotating system. The static torque element has little movement and therefore more economic to manufacture and purchase. Rotary or dynamic torque is more complicated as the signal needs to be transferred using slip rings, wireless telemetry or rotary transformers/inductance technology so that the strain gauged shaft can continuously rotate. Displacement: Measures distance. The displacement transducers that PCM offer are slightly different to standard units. They have a strain gauge/wheatstone bridge. The benefit here is that if the customer has existing electronics that uses strain gauge/load cell technology, they can use them with these sensors.

The Validyne model SI314 is a network interface that connects our model P61 USB pressure Transducer to your smart phone or network web browser. The SI314 supports Ethernet and Wi-Fi connections and will display current pressure readings and transducer status on any web browser or via smart phone. The SI314 also displays the transducer temperature, date of calibration, model and serial numbers and these can be viewed wirelessly or by Ethernet connection. The SI314 makes your P61 accessible from anywhere in the world. Data logging of pressure data is configured via a web browser or smart phone and readings may be stored once per minute to once per hour. A thumb drive or memory card collects the data in comma separated file format(csv) for download to your computer. The data may also be accessed via the network. A graph of the data is also generated on request. A Twitter function allows pressure data to be tweeted from the SI314 at user-defined intervals. The transducer zero and span calibration adjustments are password protected and operated via browser buttons. No potentiometer adjustments are required to calibrate the P61 transducer. Photodiodes convert incoming electromagnetic radiation into electrical charge carriers. If photodiodes are short circuited an electrical current (photocurrent) proportional to the incident radiation intensity (number of photons per second) is induced. These photocurrents are generally small and cover the range from femtoampere (fA) to microampere (µA). Signal transducers transform this weak photocurrent to robust standard signals for reliable data transmission and simple data acquisition.

The PS57 is a combination power supply and 4 1/2 digit LED display for the P55/P855 family of pressure transducers and transmitters. The PS57 accepts 110 VAC power and provides the required 24 Vdc excitation for the transducer. The transducer signal is received and displayed directly in engineering units with bright 0.56 high red LEDs. The user can re-scale the display and set the decimal point by configuring internal jumpers. The analog output of the transducer, 5 Vdc or 4-20 mA, is available on rear-panel terminals.

Model RAD242 is an intelligent, two-differential-channel, 24-bit analog-input interface unit that includes a Delta-Sigma A/D converter. The converter has a digital output filter with adjustable notch frequency from 10 Hz to 2000 Hz. The pod also has 13 bits of digital input/output. A precision 10 VDC voltage that can be used for transducer excitation is available at connector pin 5. As much as 60 mA current can be provided. It is packaged in a NEMA 4 enclosure for remote installation in harsh environments. RAD242 also provides a user-definable interrupt input and counter/timer input. An optional RAD Firmware Development Kit is available if you wish to use those user-programmable input lines or to develop a custom program.

TEDS, or transducer Electronic Data Sheet, is a set of electronic data in a standardized format defined within the IEEE 1451.4 standard. This data specifies what type of sensor is present, describes its interface, and gives technical information such as sensitivity, bridge type , excitation, etc. This information is stored in an EEPROM chip attached to the sensor. By having this chip, the sensor can identify and describe itself to the network and or Smart Load Cell Meter (DPM-3), thereby easing automatic system configuration.
