The 40-205-008 (PXI) is an 8-channel fault insertion switch designed to simulate common faults on high speed two wire communication interfaces such as xBaseT1 Ethernet. It is available with 4 or 8 channels of two wire serial connections and can be used for simulating faults on 10BaseT1, 100BaseT1, 1000BaseT1 and 10GBaseT1 Ethernet interfaces. Any wire can be set as open circuit and shorts can be applied across wire pairs. Dielectric Loss Tangent Testing Instruments
Insulation materials in electrical equipment are used between a pair of electrodes; therefore it can be expressed as capacitors. Applying AC voltage to a capacitor with insulation materials causes an energy loss due to the leak current, the dielectric polarization, and the partial discharge. Because of this, the phase of the capacitor current is more delayed than that of a zero-loss current (reactive current) flowing in an ideal insulation material.
