The CNG-EbNo is a fully automated precision signal to noise (AWGN) generator that sets, and maintains a highly accurate ratio between a user supplied carrier and internally generated noise, over a wide range of signal power levels and frequencies. The internal AWGN meter provides repeatable SNR waveforms for accurate signal generation. The instrument gives system, design, and test engineers in the telecommunications industry a single tool to generate precision signal to noise ratios. These signals are used to compare theoretical BER to SNR ratios, found in "waterfall" type graphs, with measured values from the DUT to evaluate different modulation schemes. Users can obtain higher yield through automated testing, plus increased confidence from repeatable, accurate test results. Standard units can be modified for specific customer requirements. The ADF4356 allows implementation of fractional-N or integer-N phase-locked loop (PLL) frequency synthesizers when used with an external loop filter and an external reference frequency. A series of frequency dividers at another frequency output permits operation from 53.125 MHz to 6800 MHz. The ADF4356 has an integrated VCO with a fundamental output frequency ranging from 3400 MHz to 6800 MHz. In addition, the VCO frequency is connected to divide by 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, or 64 circuits that allow the user to generate RF output frequencies as low as 53.125 MHz. For applications that require isolation, the RF output stage can be muted. The mute function is both pin- and software-controllable.

General Purpose Basic Carrier Demodulator

The CD15 Sine Wave Carrier Demodulator operates with variable reluctance transducers to provide a DC output signal for dynamics as well as steady state measurements. A 5kHz sine wave excitation is applied to the two inductance ratio arms of the transducer and the resulting output is demodulated and amplified using the latest integrated circuit techniques. The DC output is obtained from an active filter circuit and gives a uniform response from steady state to 1000 Hz. The low impedance sine wave excitation allows operation with the transducer located over 1,000 feet from the CD15.
