The INA169 is a “high-side current monitor,” which means that you place a resistor (a “shunt resistor”) on the positive power rail and the INA169 measures the voltage drop across that resistor. The INA169 outputs a small current based on the measured voltage drop. If you place a resistor from the output of the INA169 to ground, you can measure the voltage at the output.

Life has its ups and downs, so why not measure them? The MPL3115A2 is a MEMS pressure sensor that provides Altitude data to within 30cm (with oversampling enabled). The sensor outputs are digitized by a high resolution 24-bit ADC and transmitted over I2C, meaning it's easy to interface with most controllers. Pressure output can be resolved with output in fractions of a Pascal, and Altitude can be resolved in fractions of a meter. The device also provides 12-bit temperature measurements in degrees Celsius.

With a comprehensive range measuring from 1mm to 800mm and most products available with intrinsically safe approval. Hydraulic and pneumatic cylinder applications can be satisfied either with the P100 style cylinder sensor, the internally mounted P106 linear sensor or any of our other externally mounted linear sensors such as the stand alone P101. For submerged applications we offer IP68 sealing to 10 bar from our S114 and S115 submersible linear sensors and 350bar from our S125. The complete range of linear sensors is very customisable with many mounting, electrical and connection options. Customisation of most of our Linear, Rotary and Rilt sensors is routine given the excellent flexibilty of our sensing technology.

The color sensor product family includes both RGB (Red, Green, Blue) and high-accuracy XYZ light sensors for precise color measurement, determination, and discrimination. XYZ sensors are capable of providing xy chromaticity co-ordinates in accordance with the CIE 1931 color map. The ams color sensors include filters to block unwanted IR light in the visible spectral range, enabling highly accurate color measurement. Their high sensitivity coupled with their wide dynamic range make them well suited to continuous color temperature measurement of ambient light in display management systems, and automatic-white-balance assistance in camera applications. Conventional strain sensors are based on strain gage technology. In order to effectively measure the strain values in a force or load measurement application, a full, 4 element strain gage bridge circuit is utilized. The configuration is known as a Wheatstone Bridge Circuit. A Wheatstone Bridge has a very linear output in it’s midrange. That being considered +100% to -100% of range. Unfortunately, a Wheatstone Bridge becomes non-linear above the upper and lower extremes of range. Therefore, significant errors can result above the end points when attempting to take precision measurements. It is particularly important to take accurate measurements in some R&D or control applications. To avoid the mentioned error issues, PCB manufactures quartz piezoelectric strain sensors that output the same mV/microstrain sensitivity throughout the entire useful range. Thus, accuracy is improved and control requirements are enhanced that may occur at positive extremes of the measurement range. The models RHM240 and model 740B02 series sensors are the strain sensors for these applications.
