It is ideal for use in disk drive and other confined space applications. The single beam interferometer is called that because the outgoing and returning beams are superimposed on each other, giving the appearance of only one beam traveling between the interferometer and the retroreflector.

Differential Interferometer
The Keysight 10721A Two Axis Differential Interferometer, when used in multiple axis applications, simultaneously makes two differential measurements linear and angular (yaw) displacement. Both measurements reference external mirror mounted to an object such as a column or inspection tool. The 10721A provides high immunity to unwanted interferometer displacement, such as thermal expansion. It is a modular, compact design with monolithic optics for maximized mechanical stability. Use of a small 3 mm beam helps decrease Abb offset error. The 10721A is similar to the 10719A Single Axis Differential Interferometer, except that it provides an additional measurement axis.

These interferometers are driven by our own PZ1 Low-profile Fiber Stretcher with enhanced modulation, through a front panel BNC connector. Michelson and Mach-Zehnder interferometers are available in wavelengths from 1064 to 1550 nm. Each interferometer has a “zero meter” path mismatch which provides flexibility to change the delay length to match varying test applications. The standard length shipped is 50 meters. 40Gb/s DQPSK Receiver

The integrated DQPSK receiver incorporates an optical phase demodulator (delay-line interferometer or DLI) with 2 pairs of balanced photo-diodes and 2 linear TIAs into a single butterfly package. Compared with the currently available discrete solution in which a separate DLI and a separate receiver are used, the integrated DQPSK receiver eliminates labor intensive fiber routing and coupling (between the DLI and the balanced receiver) as well as the skew control. Moreover, the integrated DQPSK receiver offers a smaller footprint suitable for today’s demanding high speed transponder applications.
