Managed Ethernet Switches
CommFront offers a range of rugged, industrial-grade, managed and unmanaged Ethernet Switches. These Industrial Ethernet Switches have been designed for harsh industrial environments and withstand a wide temperature of -40°F to 185°F (-40°C to 85°C), and they come with the options of 10/100/1000M for both Fast and Gigabit Ethernet networks. In addition, our advanced, rugged, industrial-grade, Fast and Gigabit Ethernet Switches support both point-to-point and multi-drop (daisy-chain or self-healing redundant ring) fiber optic networks, which are designed to cover large areas. These industrial Ethernet Switches support up to 255 fiber nodes, and each fiber node can extend the Fast and Gigabit Ethernet data up to 100 miles or 160 km. When configured as a ring network, the built-in self-healing feature allows the Ethernet data to be transmitted clockwise or counterclockwise; therefore, failure of any individual converter will not affect other devices located on the same ring, making the entire Ethernet network more robust and reliable.

Crossing Control Bypass Switch
XCBS-DL
The XCBS-DL is permanently wired into each crossing warning system, and can be configured with either a removable or non-removable bypass key. Simply connect the track connection harness to the designated track connection terminals. To prevent unnecessary operation of the crossing warning system, insert the key and select "bypass", rotate the knife switch to "bypass" and the crossing is disabled. When in the "bypass" position, a Dummy Track Load is connected to the track wire connections in parallel with the rails and the crossing approaches are shorted, preventing unnecessary activation when track equipment is working in the crossing approach circuit. The opening of one track lead may be desired to prevent unnecessary activation with intermittent shunting on the crossing approaches close to the crossing.

Switch Probes
A switch probe is designed primarily for “presence/ electrical” test applications such as detecting the absence or presence of contacts within a wire harness connector. In this case, the switch probe provides electrical interconnection and verifies the connector has been manufactured properly. If contacts are missing or out of place, the part is rejected. If all the contacts are in place, the part is accepted and an electrical test is performed, verifying the electrical integrity of the connector and the wires within the harness.

PLD Systems
Pulsed Laser Deposition
Is a versatile thin film deposition technique. A pulsed laser (~20 ns pulse width) rapidly evaporates a target material forming a thin film that retains target composition. This unique ability of stoichiometeric transfer of target composition into the film was realized first by the research team led by Dr. Venkatesan at Bell Communications Research, NJ, USA, nearly 30 years ago while depositing high temperature superconducting (YBa2Cu3O7) thin films. Since then, PLD has become the preferred deposition technique where ever thin films of complex material compositions are considered. Another unique feature of PLD is its ability for rapid prototyping of materials. The energy source (pulsed laser) being outside the deposition chamber, facilitates a large dynamic range of operating pressures (10-10 Torr to 500 Torr) during material synthesis. By controlling the deposition pressure and substrate temperature and using relatively small target sizes, a variety of atomically controlled nano-structures and interfaces can be prepared with unique functionalities.
