Microphone sensitivities range from 12 to 50 mV/Pa.

Modern prepolarized microphones are designed with newer technology than traditional externally polarized microphones. Prepolarized microphones have many advantages over the externally polarized models. They use ICP® power circuitry invented for sensors by PCB®. By applying a polymer coating to the top of the backplate and embedding a charge on it, expensive 200V power supplies can be eliminated and 2-20 mA constant current supplies or signal conditioners can be used as the power source.

The single and triaxial ICP® accelerometers are designed with a low temperature coefficient, wide operating temperature range, and good broadband measurement resolution, making them ideal for any vibration measurement requiring tight control of amplitude sensitivity over a wide thermal gradient. To alleviate the effects of high frequency overloads caused by metal-to-metal inputs, a low pass filter has been incorporated in all models, ensuring accurate data in the frequency range of interest.
