Halogen & Deuterium Halogen Light Sources
Avantes Deuterium light sources are known for their stable output ad are used for UV absorption or reflection measurements. These can also be used as irradiance calibration sources due to their high stability. The standard AvaLight-DH-S mixes the halogen light with the Deuterium light, thus producing a wide spectral range light source. The output spectrum of Deuterium light sources exhibits several peaks, with a prominent peak at 656 nm. The AvaLight-DH-S-BAL incorporates a dichroic beam splitter installed to minimize these peaks, providing a smooth spectrum from 200-2500 nm.

Calibration Light Sources
For wavelength calibration, Avantes offers a variety of sources including Argon, Mercury-Argon, Neon, Zinc, and Cadmium. All Avantes spectrometers are factory wavelength calibrated and do not require recalibration as they have fixed slits and optics. For those customers who wish to do their own calibrations, the AvaLight-CAL light sources can be used for recalibration purposes. For auto-calibration, AvaSoft-Fill provides a calibration procedure to make this easy.

Retractable Sources
Veeco’s retractable sources address fundamental limitations of MBE, including source capacity, source removal for maintenance and system uptime. The retractable source allows an individual source to be withdrawn and isolated from the growth environment with the source gate valve and then removed without venting the entire chamber. The source can then be easily refilled with the same material or a new material before being remounted at standard positions to the growth module, allowing growths to continue with minimal interruption. This saves the user from re-qualifying new source to substrate distances and multiple weeks of downtime by avoiding the process of an entire system vent and bake. In addition, the differential pumping option provides a marked improvement in base pressure around the source to reduce contamination of the source material and provide longer lifetimes for sources in corrosive and oxidizing environments. Broadband Calibrated Noise Sources
Fairview Microwave’s calibrated noise sources cover frequency bands from 10 KHz to 18 GHz. Their performance specifications include output ENR levels ranging from 15 dB to 30 dB and typical VSWR levels as low as 1.25:1. Depending on the model, calibrated frequency points are at 10 MHz, 100 MHz, 1000 MHz, 2000 MHz and 1 GHz steps.
