Counters, Timers, And Ratemeters

ORTEC offers the broadest range of nuclear counters, timers, rate meters and multichannel scalers. Counters simply count the number of input pulses received during the counting period. Timers count pulses generated by an internal or external clock and are used to measure elapsed time, or to establish the length of the counting period. Rate meters provide a readout of the pulse count rate. Multichannel scalers count the number of events that occur during a specified time interval, referred to as the dwell time, resulting in a time-histogram of counts. “Standalone” and programmable computer controlled versions are available.

ADLINK PXI-7931 is a matrix module with 32 cross-point 2-wire relays (DPDT, 2 Form C). The default configuration of the PXI-7931 itself is a 4-group 2x4 2-wire matrix. With the termination board, TB-6231, users could flexibly choose one of the configurations: one 4x8, two 4x4, one 2x16, two 2x8 and four 2x4. Any contact of the PXI-7931 can connect to other contacts, individually or in combination. The PXI-7931 matrix module simplifies the wiring and makes it easy to change the internal connection path. The contact position of the relays can be changed either by direct software commands or by following the instructions previously stored in the on-board scan list. The scan list advances upon the trigger from external measurement devices, such as a DMM. The scan list could also advance when the scan-delay timer expires. In the PXI-7931, PXI trigger functions are supported and software programmable. Multiple modules can therefore be synchronized without additional field wiring.

ADLINK"s PCIe-7248/7296 are high-density parallel digital I/O boards with 96/48 I/O channels. The header connectors are fully compatible with industry Opto-22 standard. Thus, PCIe-7248/7296 can utilize the Opto-22 external devices. The PCIe-7248/7296 devices emulate mode 0 of the industry standard 8255 programmable peripheral interface (PPI) chips. The PCIe-7248/7296 provides 4/2 PPI chips respectively. Each PPI offers three 8-bit ports: Port A, Port B and Port C. The Port C is divided into 2 nibble-wide (4-bit) ports.
