Load cells are mechanical components which act as force sensors by employing strain gages to provide an electrical output proportional to the applied force. Typically the electrical output is either analog (voltage or current) or digital. Load cells have specific mechanical packaging and sensing orientation to fit into electronic scales, and testing and monitoring systems. Load cells can be used for tension, compression, and/or shear measurement.

The SST-LV is a Plug & Play Smart TEDS IEEE 1451.4 compliant Transmitter. Just plug in a TEDS compatible Load Cell or Torque Sensor and the SST-LV will automatically self-calibrate. When used with a non-TEDS Load Cell or Torque Sensor, the SST-LV Transmitter is easily programmed using a PC with an RS232 port and Instrument Setup (IS) software, which provides a graphical user interface. The SST-LV may be powered from 12-30 Vac or 10-48 Vdc. The SST-HV Has an Isolated transducer excitation output that is selectable between 5Vdc or 10Vdc. There are Dual solid state relays and an Isolated 4-20 mA, 0-20 mA or 0-10V analog output. There are three Isolated serial data transmitter output ( RS232 , Half-duplex RS485, full-duplex RS485 ) and three serial protocols that are software selectable (Modbus RTU, Modbus ASCII and Custom ASCII). Isolation to 250V rms is provided for power, signal input, analog output, relay outputs, and communications. Isolation adds safety and avoids possible ground loops. The transducer excitation output is isolated to 50V from signal ground.

AC Fuel Flow Signal Generator

The TA-100 signal generator was designed to facilitate testing of aircraft fuel flow indicators that require two input signals designated as “Drum” and “Impeller”. This generator provides both signals so as to provide a direct interface to the fuel flow indicator under test. The generator also provides switched power out to the unit under test as well as a 5v source for testing the bezel lighting. The original design was built around the requirements for the AMETEK series indicators (pn: 10171 series). This generator simulates a reference and a time delayed signal of appropriate amplitude for an indication of up to 1200pph for the indicator under test. The “PPH Select” switch provides fixed signal delays representing 0, 200, 400, 800, 1000 and 1200pph flow rates respectively, this provides the mechanic with an expedient check of the indicators accuracy. The “PPH Adjust” control allows the mechanic to vary the signal delay throughout the full range and serves as a good method for checking of pointer smoothness from stop to stop. The unit’s front panel also provides test jacks to monitor the “FDR Output” as well as the drum and impeller signals. The TA-100 requires only 28Vdc to operate. This generator provides a very economical approach to any repair facility or flight department as it becomes an alternative to purchasing two bench top signal generators. The TA-100 generator at the very least can provide a simple functional test and eliminate the high cost of exchanging an indicator as a function of troubleshooting the aircraft system.

The following parameters of the reference cell are certified: Isc, Imax, Voc, Vmax, Pmax, Area, Fill Factor and Efficiency. The certification is accredited by NIST to the ISO-17025 standard and is traceable both to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), and to the International System of Units (SI). A compatible cable set is also supplied with each Solar Reference Cell.
