All Data blocks and Control registers are memory mapped and may be accessed in real time. Each M4KMMSI module may be programmed to operate in one of three modes of operation: Remote Terminal, Bus Controller/Concurrent-RT/Concurrent Monitor and Bus Monitor.

DDS – Direct Digital Synthesis – is a method for generating sine waves from a single, fixed-frequency reference clock and is widely used in signal generation applications. The DDS functionality implemented on Spectrum Instrumentation’s AWG platform is based on the principle of adding multiple “DDS cores” to generate a mul?ti-carrier (multi-tone) signal, with each carrier having its own well-defined frequency, amplitude and phase. In addition to these static parameters, there are also build in dynamic parameters like frequency slope and amplitude slope to allow for intrinsic linear changes for multiple cores.

EL Testing for Si Solar Cells using High Performance CCD. The determination of luminescence (photo emissions) in solar cells is an important characterization tool. Typical solar cells often have defects which limit the efficiency or lifetime of a cell. Many of these defects are visualized with Luminescence Imaging. By using this technique, the manufacturing process can be optimized to produce better cells. Luminescence Imaging takes advantage of the radiative inter-band recombination of excited charge carriers in solar cells. The emitted photons can be captured with a sensitive CCD camera to obtain an image of the distribution of the radiative recombination in the cell. This distribution is determined by the local excitation level, allowing the detection of electrical losses, thus mapping the diffusion length of minority carriers as the emitted light is low intensity and in the near infra-red range, the CCD camera has a high sensitivity wavelength from 900 to 1100 nm with little thermal noise. This CCD camera provides excellent resolution of 1024 x 1024 pixels with a large 1μm pixel size, multi-megahertz readout speed, and robust USB 2.0 connectivity. The EL CCD Camera is the ultimate high-performance CCD camera for electroluminescence and photoluminescence imaging for Photovoltaic (PV) Cells and Modules. The M8KSerial is an enhanced serial interface module for the multiprotocol Excalibur 8000 family of carrier boards, that includes several advanced features such as a high baud rate and high throughput. This module supports up to two independent channels of serial communications, each of which can be selected as RS-485, RS-422 or RS-232. The module operates independently of the host computer, reducing the need for host intervention.The M8KSerial module is based on the Exar XR16M570 Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter (UART). The device is compatible to industry standard 16550 UARTs. Each of the M4KSerialPlus’s four channels contains a transmit FIFO capable of holding up to 16384 bytes and a receive FIFO capable of holding either 16384 receive bytes or 5460 bytes with a 32-bit Time Tag associated with each byte. These large buffers allow application code to transfer large quantities of data with a single non-blocking subroutine call. The 32-bit Time Tag on receive channels is very useful for synchronizing serial data with data from other modules on the 8000 board or on other interface boards. Each channel has a programmable baud rate of up to 10 Mbps and can be configured as RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485.The M8KSerial module is supplied with C drivers, including source code.
