The horns are individually calibrated and can be used for either receiving or transmitting applications. National RF's Type HFDF active directional antenna system consists of a high gain RF amplifier coupled to a tunable Faraday shielded loop antenna. Several loop antenna assemblies are available to provide coverage of frequencies in the HF and low VHF spectrum. Due to the nature of a Faraday shielded loop, the antenna exhibits a sharp null through the diametric center of the loop. This null is used to determine the direction of incoming radio signals or to locate electrical noise being radiated from some source. The internal high gain amplifier is used to compensate for the inherent inefficiency of the actual loop at the operating frequency. Overall, the system dynamic response is about +6 dB as compared to the dynamic response of a dipole. To aid in the direction finding process on strong signals, an internal 30 DB attenuator is provided. As the loop antenna presents a bi-directional response, tri-angulation may be required to eliminate the ambiguous signal direction. The line of site of the incoming signal is determined by listening for a signal null on the receiver or by watching the receiver’s S-meter.

Also known as Magnetic Loop Antenna, the AL-130R is compliant with CISPR 16-1-4. It is ideal for emissions measurements as required by various EMC standards such as FCC 18, CISPR 11, CISPR 13, CISPR 14, CISPR 32 and many more. The built-in, low-noise preamplifier, increases overall measurement sensitivity as well as the overall signal to noise ratio. As per ANSI C63.4-2014, the use of active loop antenna for compliance testing is permitted in a non-sheilded environment ONLY if the saturation indicator is continuously monitored during the course of testing. Com-Power’s Remote Antenna Interface (RAI-100) comes in very handy for this application. It is a compact controller which can be used to enable/ disable RF measurement circuit and monitor saturation and battery low conditions remotely via a fiber optic cable up to 30 mtrs in length.

The EM-6115 is a broad band collinear array allowing very wide Omni-Directional frequency coverage in a single package. Below approximately 100 MHz, the EM-6115 acts as an active vertical rod which offers 10 to 12 dB Greater unsaturated instantaneous dynamic range than competitive antennas (overload field strength: 2 V/meter) which greatly reduces intermodulation generated signals in a typical read world RF environment. In the congested spectrum above 100 MHz the antenna is passive and contributes no intermodulation products so the overload point is determined solely by the receiving instrument. This immunity to overload can often make the difference between useful signal output and an indecipherable jumble of spurious products and is accomplished without compromising sensitivity. The antenna collapses for convenient storage and transport.
