Spectrum Marker Generator

National RF, Inc. is pleased to announce the production of a new device, the Type NSG-2 Spectrum Marker Generator. The generator is intended to be used with either spectrum analyzers or communications receivers to mark specific frequency intervals in the RF spectrum. When used with receivers, it is essentially a frequency calibrator, thus making it attractive for use with vintage receivers with analog dials. The NSG-2 provides a leveled amplitude output over nearly 100 MHz of RF spectrum, thus making it ideal to mark frequencies and signal levels on spectrum analyzers. In addition, it may be used with a spectrum analyzer, in lieu of a sweeping type generator, to align lowpass, highpass, and bandpass filters with passbands greater than 20 KHz.

DC Filter Inductors
Osborne DC filter inductors (aka filter chokes) are commonly used in AC to DC conversion circuits to present an inductive voltage drop to the AC component of rectified current. This inductive voltage drop acts as a filter. Osborne designs filter inductors to components to function effectively (without saturation) in the presence of the DC current. Active Filter
J2190A
The J2190A active filter presents a high impedance (approximately 150kOhms) minimizing the loading of the circuit being tested. The output impedance is 50 Ohms allowing low noise coaxial connections to all typical test equipment. The 0.1Hz-10Hz noise band is common for opamp measurements, voltage regulators and voltage references. Many application notes offer schematics of such a filter for test purposes. An engineer’s time is much too valuable to be spent building test equipment. We have created a 4th order high pass and 4th order low pass filter with an optimally flat response and 0dB gain. Additional filters can be cascaded for even sharper cutoff.
