This PXI fault insertion switch uses solid state switching elements and is capable of switching current up to 10A. It is designed to be able to insert three different fault conditions between the test fixture and the equipment under test: Open-Circuit. Short-Circuit between UUT connections. Short-Circuit to external signals. Through relays on each channel enable signals to the UUT to be set open-circuit. Fault Insertion Buses allow any channel to be shorted to any other channel and also enable any channel to be connected to an external signal such as Power, Ignition or Ground to simulate fault conditions. The module is supplied with 2 fault buses.

Linear Hall Sensor
The output of a hall effect sensor is a voltage which changes in proportion to the shaft extension. A constant voltage is required across the supply and ground wires of the sensor. The sensor consists of a Hall Effect element, and a shaft which houses a magnet. When the position of the sensor changes relative to the shaft, the change in magnetic field in the sensor results in a change in output voltage.

FPGA PXI High-Performance Digital I/O Card
GX3700
The GX3700 is a user configurable, FPGA-based, 3U PXI card which offers 160 digital I/O signals which can be configured for single-ended or differential interfaces. The card employs the Altera Stratix III FPGA, which can support SerDes data rates up to 1.2 Gb/s, digital I/O clock rates of 700 MHz, and features 47,500 logic elements and 2.1 kb of memory. The GX3700 is supplied with an integral expansion board providing access to the FPGA’s 160 I/Os. Alternatively, users can design their own custom expansion cards for specific applications - eliminating the need for additional external boards which are cumbersome and physically difficult to integrate into a test system. The design of the FPGA is done by using Altera’s free Quartus II Web Edition tool set. Smart Sockets
Ironwood Electronics extended its high performance socket product line with smart features. Sockets are typically rated for 2K to 500K cycles. How do we know if the sockets are used for 100K or 200K insertions? Solution is electronic chip insertion counter. Our sockets can be integrated with electronics counter into the compression mechanism of the socket lid. A push button is exposed on the compression plate. Every time a chip is compressed, push button is actuated which in turn activates the electronic circuitry inside the lid. These activations are counted by the counter IC and displayed in LCD. Let’s say a contact element is rated for 2K insertions. After 2K insertions, this contact element will be replaced by new contact element. Now, the counter has to start the counting from the beginning. To achieve this function, a reset option is included in the electronics circuitry. When reset is actuated, LCD display will go to “0”.
