I/O Expanders and Level Translators
ST’s Xpander family of general-purpose input/output port expanders are used to interface digital ASICs via a two-line bidirectional bus (I²C) . ST’s dual-supply level translators are used as interface between multi-voltage chipsets and system I/Os, ranging from 5.5 V down to 1.2 V.

Darlington Arrays
Darlington devices are high-voltage, high-current switch arrays containing multiple open-collector Darlington pairs or multiple Darlington transistors with common emitters, and integral suppression diodes for inductive loads. The nominal current rating of each output is 500 mA for the 7- and 8-output devices and up to 1.5 A for quad-output devices. The inputs are pinned opposite the outputs to simplify the application board layout. These devices interface standard logic families.

Voltage Protection ICs
ST’s voltage protection devices prevent external overvoltage (or undervoltage) peaks from damaging circuitry. They are commonly implemented on the power charging patch of portable devices to prevent USB or AC charger power failure. ST’s devices offer the advantage of very precise voltage thresholds, so that the protection is activated accurately, and without fail.

Watchdog Timers
ST offers watchdog timers as standalone devices (separate from the microprocessor) for applications requiring a high security level. These devices are a robust, reliable means of monitoring software code execution, or hardware failures, and can trigger appropriate action, such as system reboot, high-level interrupt generation and others.

ESD Protection
Protection against electrostatic discharges (ESD) is part of EMC Immunity (Electro Magnetic Compatibility) requirements. It is the ability for equipment to properly operate in its electromagnetic environment by limiting the reception of electromagnetic energy that may cause physical damage. ESD can be either conducted under the form of a transient voltage or can be radiated due to its fast rising time: powerful harmonics will generate erratic behavior by the application by coupling with other signals. Printed circuit boards must be protected against the effects of electrostatic discharge.

Silicon Carbide Diodes
In addition to ensuring compliance with today's most stringent energy efficiency regulations (Energy Star, 80Plus, and European Efficiency), ST's silicon-carbide diodes show four times better dynamic characteristics with 15% less forward voltage (VF) than standard silicon diodes. Silicon-carbide diodes belong to our STPOWER family.

Bridge Rectifier Diodes
ST’s portfolio of bridge rectifier diodes is intended for primary bridges. In input primary bridge applications, ST's 1200V bridge diodes achieve very low conduction losses thanks to very low forward voltage characteristics. They can operate at up to +175 °C junction temperature, as a result of reduced leakage currents. Bridge rectifier diodes are belonging to the STPOWER family.
