Most commercial ATEs does only functional test and do not carry out DC/AC parameter testing, which are very essential in increasing the fault coverage and for achieving near zero field returns. ATE QT2256-640 PXI system is designed as a combination board tester capable of testing highly complex and PCBs employing various techniques on a single platform. It can be easily upgraded to 640 digital channels and with programmable UUT power supplies, IEEE or PXI external instrumentation, Bus cycle signature system, ICE and integrated Boundary scan Test AC/DC parametric testing. The ATE is interfaced to an external host PC using a PCI express interface card allowing a maximum data transfer rate. The multimeter is bypassed with the switch during connection in case of a power surge. The tester and meter can remain connected until other computer systems shut down, isolating the drain. As a convenience, stacking banana connectors are used on the tester. This allows voltage to be measured on various locations on the vehicle during the drain test, using standard test leads.

Multi Channel Optical Fibre Verification
The multi-channel optical fibre test system is used in the development and qualification of single mode optical fibres. The fibres are exposed to environmental influences in a climatic chamber in order to analyse the data on insertion loss and reflection. In addition, the current temperature in the climatic chamber is documented. Insertion loss measurement is performed with the help of an optical power meter, laser sources and optical switches. An Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) from Exfo is used for the reflection measurements. The system was designed for the simultaneous characterization of 15 sample fibres and one reference fibre.
