The NI‑5792 provides continuous frequency coverage from 200 MHz to 4.4 GHz. It features a single-stage, direct conversion architecture that provides high bandwidth in the small form factor of a FlexRIO adapter module. The onboard synthesizer, which is the local oscillator (LO), sets the center frequency for acquisition and generation, and you can export it to other modules for multiple input, multiple output (MIMO) synchronization. You can also import the LO from an external connector, enabling synchronization of up to eight NI‑5792 modules.

It also includes eight general-purpose digital I/O lines for a variety of applications, such as configuring the address of I2C devices or toggling LEDs. The USB‑8451 can be physically located more closely to I2C/SPI devices than PCI interfaces, reducing I2C bus length and minimizing noise problems. Additionally, the interface provides +5 V and GND to power circuits with no external power supply.

PXI Vehicle Multiprotocol Interface Modules use hardware-selectable NI-XNET Transceiver Cables (TRC) to communicate High-Speed/Flexible Data‑rate CAN, Low-Speed/Fault Tolerant CAN, and/or LIN. Using the NI-XNET driver, you can create applications that require real-time, high-speed manipulation of hundreds of CAN and/or LIN frames and signals. The kit is supplied with a PCIe card which can plug into any PC PCIe slot, this PXI module for insertion into Slot 1 of a PXI chassis and 3m lead to connect the two parts together. The interface uses a single lane PCIe connection from the PC to provide a software transparent link from the PC PCIe backplane to the PXI backplane. The supplied 3m shielded lead ensures the system has robust operation and an adequate separation distance between the PC and the PXI chassis.
