Automatic Extensometer
SIE-560A/560SA
To determine the suitability of a material for an application where it is under load, measuring its elongation is important. Measuring elongation enables determination of the elastic modulus (reversible elongation in the elastic region) by measuring the small initial elongation range, and determination of elongation at specimen failure, by measuring larger irreversible elongation in the plastic region. Shimadzu’s SIE-560A series automatic extensometers accomplish both of these measurements with high accuracy, and provide automated functions that increase testing efficiency and test reproducibility. Ideal for testing a wide variety of materials, including metallic materials, plastics, and composites, the SIE-560A series complies with ISO 527, JIS K 7161, and ASTM D638 standards for plastics tensile testing. In addition, the SIE-560A series supports strain-rate controlled metallic material tensile testing measurements specified in ISO 6892, JIS Z 2241, and ASTM E4

Tensile Test Methods For Plastics: ASTM D638
Resin materials (plastics) are found in a wide variety of items used on a daily basis. Recently, plastics have started to be used as structural materials in transportation equipment, such as automobiles and aircraft, due to their strength and light-weight nature. In these applications, it is important to understand the mechanical strength properties of these plastics. ASTM D638 specifies methods for testing the tensile strength of plastics and other resin materials and for calculating their mechanical properties, and outlines accuracy requirements for the test frames and accessories used.

Concrete Strength Testers
This category of products comprises the range of instruments utilized to evaluate construction material strength. The range of instruments is typically considered to be two parts. The first are non-destructive field tests of compressive strength. The second are tensile field tester systems to either determine the tensile strength of an overlay or bond material, or tensile strength of anchors embedded in the concrete. The first group is pure Non-Destructive Testing where the strength of the material is determined by correlation to another parameter more easily available and readily apparent. This is typically the hardness of the concrete or the resistance to penetration by either a pin or probe. The Windsor Probe, Windsor Pin and our line of Rebound Hammers all fall within this category. These are widely used standard tests and as such have seen use throughout the world.
