Waveguide Detectors 26.5 to 110 GHz
Our waveguide detectors cover a broad frequency range of 26.5 GHz to 110 GHz and are available with waveguide sizes ranging from WR-28 to WR-10. The video output ports utilize SMA female connectors. These high performance zero-biased waveguide detectors exhibit excellent performance in Ka, Q, U, V, E and W frequency bands. These types of waveguide detectors are commonly used in various aerospace, defense and commercial wireless applications used in instrumentation, power detection, power monitoring, direct detection receivers, high frequency communications, radar, SATCOM, point-to-point radio, telecom, data links and R&D. The detector circuits use high performance GaAs Schottky Barrier Beam lead diodes with extremely low junction capacitance. These waveguide detector designs perform with minimal sensitivity variation resulting in a flat frequency response across the entire waveguide band. GHz Elastomer Sockets
Ironwood’s GHz BGA & QFN/MLF sockets are ideal for prototyping and testing almost any BGA or QFN device application. These ZIF sockets provide excellent signal integrity yet remain cost effective. Innovative elastomer interconnect technology that delivers low signal loss up to >40GHz and supports BGA or QFN/MLF pitches down to 0.3mm was utilized in these sockets. GHz BGA sockets are mechanically mounted over a target system’s BGA lands using mounting and alignment holes at proper locations (page 2 of the individual socket drawing shows recommended PCB layout information). These low-profile sockets are only 2.5 mm per side larger than actual IC packages (industry’s smallest footprint). They support IC devices with body sizes ranging from 55mm down to 1mm. Larger body sizes may require a backing plate. If the backside of the target PCB contains capacitors and resistors, a custom insulation plate with cavities cut for those components can be designed. This insulation plate sandwiches between the backing plate and target PCB.

Near Field Probes 30 MHz up to 6 GHz
XF1 set
The XF1 set of near field probes consists of 4 passive near field probes and one passive E field probe for making measurements in the development phase of the magnetic and electric fields in ranges from 30 MHz to 6 GHz. Due to their integrated impendance matching, the probes are less sensitive in the lower frequency range than the RF type probes. The probe heads of the XF1 set allow for the step by step identification of interference sources of the magnetic field on an electronic assembly. At first, for example the XF-R 400-1 detects the fields which the assembly emits in total. Next, using higher resolution probes the interference sources can be more precisely detected. The E field probe is used for the detection of electric interfering fields near the assemblies. With trained use of the near field probes, field orientation and field distribution can be detected. The near field probes are small and handy. They have a sheath current attenuation and are electrically shielded. They can be connected to a spectrum analyzer or an oscilloscope with a 50 Ω input. They have an internal terminating resistance.
