midUTS
Combining bench-top portability with powerful automated test functionality, the midUTS is an extremely versatile yet cost-effective solution for your electronics functional test needs. Comprised of high-performance commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) instruments, along with Bloomy’s medium-density signal-routing PCBAs, a built-in or USB-connected PC, and a pair of high-integrity, production-grade cables connected to an adjacent benchtop fixture, the midUTS can be used in engineering for PCBA bring up, as well as scaled to manufacturing to perform high-volume PCBA and sub-assembly functional testing. It is also ideal for depot diagnostic test, debug, and repair of field returns. The two mass-interconnected cables connect the midUTS to as many as 320 test points on the unit under test (UUT), supporting an extreme wide variety of products using bed-of-nails as well as cable-connected UUT test fixtures. Test Engines

The test system cluster architecture is based on dual CPU or 4-CPU PCs acting as cluster nodes. The nodes communicate and synchronise over a high-speed network (Myrinet or InfiniBand). A modification of the Linux operating system allows to run the test execution and evaluation algorithms in hard real-time on reserved CPUs, where scheduling is non-preemptive and controlled by the test system itself. The interrupts caused by interfaces to the system under test may be relayed to CPUs designated explicitly for their handling. This approach offers the opportunity to utilise high-performance standard hardware and the services provided by the widely accepted Linux operating system in combination with all mechanisms required for hard real-time computing. The cluster architecture presents an opportunity to distribute interfaces with high data throughput on different nodes, so that PCI bus overload can be avoided. In addition, the CPU load can be balanced by allocating test data generators, environment simulations and checkers for the behaviour of the system under test ("test oracles") on dedicated CPUs.

An impedance box is necessary for measuring the impedance of a loudspeaker. Listen Inc.’s impedance box contains a 0.25Ω resistance. This value is suitable for most loudspeakers, but may be easily swapped out for a different value by the user if speakers with a particularly high or low impedance are being tested. 90-Degree Optical Hybrid
Six-port hybrid devices have been used for microwave and millimeter-wave detection systems since the mid-1990s and are a key component for coherent receivers. In principle, the six-port device consists of linear dividers and combiners interconnected in such a way that four different vectorial additions of a reference signal (LO) and the signal to be detected are obtained. The levels of the four output signals are detected by balanced receivers. By applying suitable baseband signal processing algorithms, the amplitude and phase of the unknown signal can be determined.
