High Temperature Diametral Extensometers (1000 C)

This model is for diametral strain measurement with furnace and induction heating systems. Quartz rods and water-cooling allow the unit to be used for high temperature testing of metals, ceramics and composites. With induction heating, this model often can be used without water-cooling. When used in furnaces, the extensometer is often mounted directly to the furnace side cut-out. Optional load frame mounting brackets are available for supporting the extensometer in cases where furnace mounting is not possible. These optional mounts are used with induction heating or furnace systems. The Model 3580 extensometers are strain gaged devices, making them compatible with any electronics designed for strain gaged transducers. Most often they are connected to a test machine controller. The signal conditioning electronics for the extensometer is typically included with the test machine controller or may often be added. In this case the extensometer is shipped with the proper connector and wiring to plug directly into the electronics. For systems lacking the required electronics, Epsilon can provide a variety of solutions, allowing the extensometer output to be connected to data acquisition boards, chart recorders or other equipment.

The LBM Series (Load Button) load cells are offered for compression only applications where space is limited. This load button is a direct replacement for many of the same type and bolt patterns currently used in the industry. The matching surface must be flat and at least 2 inches in diameter. The loading diameter is slightly convex for accurate load distribution. Eight threaded mounting holes are provided on the bottom surface for fastening down from beneath. These sensors are manufactured from heat treated 17-4ph stainless steel, and the sensing element incorporates bonded foil strain gages of the highest quality. SURFACE PROFILE GAGES
Steel is often abrasive blast cleaned or otherwise roughened prior to painting. The peak-to-valley height of the resultant surface profile is an important factor in the performance of applied protective coatings. Low profile may reduce coating bond strength (adhesion). Too high and the peaks may receive insufficient coverage and possibly rust prematurely. The costly application of more coating may be required if the profile is too high. For these reasons, surface profile should be measured prior to coating application to ensure that it meets contract specifications.
