Test Module
The M8K708 module is an ARINC-708 / 453 2-channel test and simulation module for the Weather Radar Display Databus. The M8K708 supports two ARINC-708 / 453 channels, each selectable as transmit or receive. Each channel implements an 64K×16 FIFO and supports polling and/or interrupt driven operation.The M8K708 comes complete with Windows software, a C-driver software library including source code and may be used with Exalt, Excalibur’s Analysis and Laboratory Tools, a Windows monitoring application. In addition, Excalibur produces adapter cables that convert the carrier board I/O Molex™ connector to two twinax CJ70-49 connectors. The cable may be purchased at an additional cost.

This conduction cooled VPX interface board has a PCI Express host interface and can support up to four independent removable modules and 10 on-board Discrete channels. Each removable module can be any of the 8000 family modules.The EXC-8000ccVPX supports Direct Memory Access (DMA), which enables the board to access system memory for reading and writing independently of the computer’s CPU. This results in faster data transfer to and from the board, with much less CPU overhead than when not using DMA.The EXC-8000ccVPX is supplied with C drivers, including source code. The M4KSerialPlus is an enhanced serial interface module for the multiprotocol Excalibur 4000 family of carrier boards, that includes several advanced features such as a high baud rate and high throughput. This module supports up to four independent channels of serial communications, each of which can be selected as RS-485, RS-422 or RS-232. The module operates independently of the host computer, reducing the need for host intervention.The M4KSerialPlus module is based on the Exar XR16M570 Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter (UART). The device is compatible to industry standard 16550 UARTs. Each of the M4KSerialPlus’s four channels contains a transmit FIFO capable of holding up to 16384 bytes and a receive FIFO capable of holding either 16384 receive bytes or 5460 bytes with a 32-bit Time Tag associated with each byte. These large buffers allow application code to transfer large quantities of data with a single non-blocking subroutine call. The 32-bit Time Tag on receive channels is very useful for synchronizing serial data with data from other modules on the 4000 board or on other interface boards. Each channel has a programmable baud rate of up to 10 Mbps and can be configured as RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485.The M4KSerialPlus module is supplied with C drivers, including source code.

Since it is broadband (1 GHz to 50 GHz), it eliminates the necessity for several sources at different frequency bands. The low SWR of the noise source reduces a major source of measurement uncertainty, which are reflections of the test signals. This is a coaxial noise source with a 2.4 mm coaxial connector. The Keysight N7711A and N7714A tunable lasers are single-port and four-port sources, available with C-band or L-band wavelength coverage. The narrow linewidth and offset grid fine-tuning capability make them ideal sources for realistic loading of the latest transmission systems. All models can reach any wavelength point within their specified wavelength range just like all other Keysight tunable lasers. In this mode, code compatibility with existing test setups based on Keysight's range of full-size and compact tunable lasers is a great asset. In system loading applications, it may be preferable to grid-tune the lasers like system transmitters, simply by changing the channel index. The channel grid is adjustable to standard ITU-T grid spacing like 50 GHz, and to arbitrary grids. Likewise, the zero frequency (base channel) of the chosen grid is adjustable. A 12 GHz fine-tuning range allows de-tuning the frequency.
