Virtual SBC
What is a virtual session border controller or virtualized SBC? Traditionally, a session border controller (SBC) is a device positioned between carrier networks or between an enterprise LAN and a service-provider WAN. In the latter case, the border controller is called an enterprise session border controller or eSBC. Whether it is delivered as a dedicated hardware session border controller or a virtualized network function, (a.k.a. software SBC) the border controller manages call (session) setup and teardown. The SBC also provides network demarcation (demarc), or separation (border) between network domains, as well as other types of management (control) over the data streams that pass between networks. With the growing popularity of software defined networking (SDN) and the burgeoning market development and adoption of network function virtualization (NFV), eSBC functionality is more and more often de-coupled from a dedicated hardware device and delivered as a virtual instance running as a virtual machine (VM) on top of a hypervisor. It is generally not well understood in the market why an eSBC is such a critical network element for a secure and reliable SIP-based enterprise phone system. The following publication will help close that knowledge gap.

Manual Oscillators

The MOS-01 manual oscillator module is used as a quality, general-purpose sinewave oscillator and digital readout monitoring system in the MAC-01, -02, or -03 AC Power Sources/Frequency Converters. The unit has guaranteed operating range of 20 HZ to 20 KHZ which is covered in three one-decade scales. The LCD digital metering system is switch-selectable to readout either frequency, voltage or current. A toggle switch selects the input for the attached AC Power Source/Frequency Converter to originate from the manual oscillator itself or from an external laboratory or programmable oscillator source. With oscillator mode switch in Internal position, the BNC connector delivers the signal to drive additional slave units or for oscilloscope sync or monitoring. BNC input/output is completely isolated with 1500 VAC breakdown and excellent common mode rejection. The oscillator modules must be factory installed and calibrated.

The BG10 Gun Barrel Bore Gauge System is an electro-mechanical measuring device that was originally introduced into service by the RAF for the high-speed measurement of aircraft cannons, to ensure minimum operational aircraft turnaround time. Measurements are taken at 16 pre-determined positions along each bore, which are then compared to pre-stored warning and rejection criteria. The actual measurements taken are displayed to the Operator on an LCD display and the measurements stored for future reference. Nitrosamines are carcinogenic compounds that can be found and formed in many products. This has been a particular issue in the pharmaceutical industry recently. Traditional approaches to the analysis, such as by mass spec, have been challenging due to the low detection levels required, the possibility of false positives, or even missing. This system takes a unique approach of using the combination of a chemical reaction targeting nitrosamine compounds, then detection by a detector with very high selectivity and sensitivity for nitro/nitroso compounds. Rather than speciating the various nitrosamines present, the system gives a single quantitative result down to 1 ppb for the total nitrosamine content. This means both volatile and non-volatile nitrosamines are measured at the same time. This process is automated to allow a high sample throughput. This makes it ideal for screening a large number of samples rapidly.
