The dB meter is used to determine the stability or fluctuations of the optical power over a large dynamic range with high accuracy and measurement speed. A fiber-coupled, power-stabilized 1.55µm laser diode is built into the device to enable simple and quick testing of passive fiber optic components or local fiber loops.
