The FastX-APU framegrabber series is for users who anticipate a demand for extreme I/O requirements and/or higher bandwidth, complex image processing and real-time high-speed storage in a cost effective platform. The base FastX-APU, is a two thirds length raw form factor PCIe (X4) Gen2 board with either six basic 85 MHz Camera Link Channels up to two extended full Camera Link camera interfaces. An auxilliary I/O connector provides a header for adaptation of other high speed interfaces such as GigEx4, high speed analog formats such as UXGA or DVI, or CoaXPress. The front-end data is formatted and preprocessed by a Kintex FPGA before being sent to the PCIe (X4) Gen 2 switch to the host or the AMD APU.

The Field Test Interface includes a zero insertion force (ZIF) meter socket, voltage and form selection, and connection points to link it with a TESCO Field Test Kit (Catalog No. 621, 630 or GA Series). When combined with a Field Test Kit and powered via inverter (commonly used on service trucks), the Field Test Interface will then power the Field Test Kit to create a single position, stand-alone, meter accuracy testing device for various socket based meters (both mechanical & solid-state). Power for the Field Test Interface can also be supplied by customer potential via TESCO Field Test Kit (no need for the inverter).

The 7402e low profile PCI Express serial interface provides four serial ports, each individually field-configurable for RS-422 or RS-485 communications. The board uses a 16C954 UART with 128-byte Tx/Rx FIFOs that enables data rates to 921.6K bps for reliable high-speed communications in data intensive applications. This high-performance UART includes 9-bit framing support and is register compatible with legacy 16550 software applications. In addition, the board derives a 62.5 MHz clock from the PCI Express link. This ultra-high speed clock is divided by a flexible 8-bit clock prescalar with 1/8 steps to provide support for the widest range of standard and non-standard baud rates.
