With this module, you can expand beyond the four counters in CompactDAQ to reach up to 64 counters per 8‑slot chassis. You can also directly connect sensors with open-collector or push-pull outputs by using an internal switchable 1 kΩ pull‑up resistor. The ProDAQ 5821 series of Signal Conditioning Cards is designed to interface with a variety of sensors, principally RTDs, Thermistors, Cryogenic Diodes and Voltage type sensors. Each version of the 5821 provides the capability of precise 4-wire measurement. In order to achieve this, a precise 500μA constant current source is provided per channel. The current source can be disabled on a per channel basis and is monitored to ensure that current is flowing. The value of the output current is stored on-board after calibration. In order to achieve the highest accuracy the output current may be automatically calibrated 'on-the-fly' using the ProDAQ 3416 24-bit Sigma-Delta ADC card and an on-board precision resistor.

The 40-262 is a 3U PXI module range that supports 6 (in one slot), 12 or 18 (in two slots) channels of RTD simulation. Based on the 40-260 design principles the module can provide a setting resolution of <8mΩ (PT100) or <90mΩ (PT1000) and a resistance accuracy of better than 0.1% on all channels. Each simulation channel is able to provide a short or open circuit setting to simulate faulty wiring connections to a sensor. Calibration or verification of each resistor channel can be verified by using the calibration port connected to a high performance DMM and a supplied software package.
