It has excellent thermal stability and substantially reduced thermal EMF figures when compared to a conventional switching matrix. Typical applications include signal routing in ATE, selecting thermocouple inputs, switching amplifier gain circuits and high accuracy DC micro-volt measurements. Ruthenium reed switches are used because of their good low level switching capability. They also have a very long life with excellent contact resistance stability, minimal wetting current and low thermal offset.

The M9187A has 32 input channels that can be used for comparing inputs to user-defined thresholds between 0.3V and 50V, with 12mV setting resolution. Each input is protected up to 100V. In addition, the 32 output channels use a high current to drive the output high or low, and are capable of sourcing 0.4A from the high side or 0.5A sink from the low side of each channel. Resistance temperature detectors (RTDs) are temperature sensors that contain a resistor that changes resistance value as its temperature changes, basically a kind of thermistor.
