The 7205e low-profile PCI Express serial interface provides two serial ports configurable for RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485. This high-performance UART includes 9-bit framing support and is fully software compatible with legacy 16550 applications. In addition, the 14.7456 oscillator and UART’s flexible clock prescalar supports the widest range of standard and non-standard baud rates.

Each power outlet can be programmed to switched on in sequence with a specific timing delay. The delay can be staggered to ensure that order dependent systems - like PXI - can be switched on and off in an orderly way with just one operation. A staggered start up also limits the inrush current associated with the powering up of equipment, including earth current inrush, placing less stress on cabling and leakage breakers. Power on or off instructions can be initiated from either the front panel switch or via the serial interface.

The PCI325 is an RS-422 synchronous/asynchronous multiport serial adapter. The module can accept a clock input to synchronize the baud rate generators of each port to an external clock.
