Shielding Effectiveness/ Conductivity Test

The EM-2107A is a standard test fixture for evaluation of the electromagnetic shielding effectiveness of planar material. The fixture is an enlarged section of coaxial transmission line and complies fully with the requirements of ASTM test method D4935-1. The measured data relates to the shielding effectiveness due to a plane wave (far field EM wave) from which near field values for magnetic and electric fields may be inferred. The EM-2107A is provided with a reference standard test specimen, a dynamic range specimen. Dynamic range of greater than 80dB is achievable, although the cables and other test system components usually establishes the limiting factors.

Arduino CAN Shield

CAN (Controller Area Network) communication has become ubiquitous in industry. It is used in automotive applications (part of OBD and many other datalinks), on-highway trucks (J1939), industrial machinery and instrumentation, and equipment applications (factory automation). This shield is designed to provide a CAN 2.0 front-end interface for 5V Arduino modules (Uno, Mega, etc). The module uses SPI to communicate to the Arduino, and requires an aditional chip select pin. An optional interrupt line to the MCP2515 and two LEDS are also provided. The chip select and interupt lines are selected via zero ohm resistors and have several configuration options for flexibility stacking additional shields. A set of stackable headers is included with this board, not installed. An optional on-board voltage regulator may be used to supply 7.5V to the Arduino's 'Vin' pin (which is regulated to 5V by the Arduino's on-board LDO). The CAN shield regulator supports a wide input range of 9V to 32V. This makes it possible to cleanly build a stand-alone CAN node (remote sensor) without the need for a separate Arduino power supply!

The fan has an ingress protection (IP) rating of 55, virtually eliminating moisture and dust ingress. At full speed the power requirement is 1 W (80 mA at 12 V DC). To conserve power fan speed can be reduced, via pulse width modulation (PWM), to 0.3 W at night or when wind speed is greater than 3 m s-1 without loss of accuracy. If the fan is continuously operated at full speed lifetime is rated at 50,000 hours (5.7 years). The fan includes a tachometer, allowing RPM to be mounted to detect obstruction of the fan.

EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) is often used interchangeably with RFI (Radio Frequency Interference). However, EMI can be any frequency of electromagnetic noise, whereas RFI is a relatively narrow range of electromagnetic noise on the EM spectrum. EMI Shielding can be used to mitigate electric and magnetic radiation across various spaces. Quad channel thermocouple Arduino shield based on the MAX31856 universal digital thermocouple interface IC. This is an exciting update of the MAX31855, with improvements in resolution (19 vs 14 bits), on-board temperature reference (6 vs 4 bits), and compensation (fully compensated vs nonlinear correction required). The MAX31856 is interfaced via 4-wire SPI with options for interrupt triggering.
