Penetrometers
Penetrometers measure the firmness or hardness of fruit. Penetrometers are ideal for determining the best time to harvest fruit or to test its progress to maturity. The firmness of fruit is one of the most widely used parameters in testing its maturity, together with measuring the fruits sugar content using refractometers. Electronic penetrometers come with different diameter penetration points. This allows for fruit of different size and hardness to be tested. It is important that this first part of the measurement process is done correctly if the readings obtained are to be valid in making adequate decisions as to when the fruit should be harvested. It is important the the samples that are measured are representative of the entire crop, considering a sufficient minimum quantity sample, size and quality.

Carbon Dioxide Meters
A carbon dioxide meter warns optically or acoustically when the carbon dioxide content is critical. Depending on the model, the carbon dioxide meter supports the function of switching relays when an adjusted value is exceeded. This function can help with the automatic conditioning of rooms. The auto calibration function of the carbon dioxide meter makes an easy calibration possible. The carbon dioxide meter supports the function of data storage and further data transfer of measuring results to a computer. Therefore, it is possible to take long-term measurements in order to capture the carbon dioxide content of a specific place for a longer period. Also, you can find a carbon dioxide meter for fixed installations. These can be applied individually or connected to a gas warning system.

Sound Level Indicators
A sound level meter is a measuring instrument used to assess noise or sound levels by measuring sound pressure. Often referred to as a sound pressure level (SPL) meter, decibel (dB) meter, noise meter or noise dosimeter, a sound level meter uses a microphone to capture sound. The sound is then evaluated within the sound level meter and acoustic measurement values are shown on the display of the sound level meter. The most common unit of acoustic measurement for sound is the decibel (dB); however, some sound level meter devices also determine the equivalent continuous sound level (Leq) and other acoustic parameters. With a portable sound level meter, industrial hygiene and workplace safety professionals can measure sound levels in multiple locations to ensure environmental conditions fall within recommended exposure limits (RELs). Some sound level meter devices can be permanently installed for continuous monitoring of sound levels at a work or job site.An important attribute to consider when searching for a suitable sound level meter is its type or class. The type or class of a sound level meter defines the device's accuracy as per American National Standards Institute (ANSI) or International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) guidelines. Typically, "type" is the grade according to the ANSI S1.4 standard, whereas "class" is the grade according to the IEC 61672 standard. There are two types or classes assigned to sound level meters: type 1 / class 1 or type 2 / class 2. For assessing noise in basic industrial, commercial, educational, recreational or residential applications, a type 2 / class 2 sound level meter usually will suffice. For precision-grade assessments often made in a laboratory, a type 1 / class 1 sound level meter primarily is used. PCE sound level meter products are lightweight, easy-to-use and manufactured in accordance with the highest industrial standards.

Paper Moisture Meters
A paper moisture meter measures the humidity of paper and paper products. Use of a paper moisture meter can prevent costly damages resulting from paper expansion or shrinking. A paper moisture meter determines paper moisture content based on either absolute humidity or relative humidity. Absolute humidity does not take into consideration temperature, while relative humidity relies on temperature and is expressed as a percentage of the total amount of moisture possible at the current temperature. Thus, many paper moisture meter devices feature automatic temperature compensation (ATC).For paper producers, paper manufacturers, paper mills and others in the pulp and paper industry, moisture and humidity control is essential, especially during the production process, as excessive moisture can lead to warming of the paper rolls. A paper moisture meter can be used to detect moisture streaks during the paper production process as well as to identify optimal drying times.Regardless of whether paper is stored in paper rolls in paper converting plants or stacked in sheets and paper bales in commercial printing warehouses, the porous surface of paper gradually takes in moisture relative to the humidity of the surrounding environment. This moisture can be problematic, as too much moisture can cause curling, buckling or the formation of waves in otherwise flat paper products. Moisture also can prevent inks, dyes, paints and coatings from covering and saturating paper properly during printing and processing.PCE Instruments (PCE) offers digital handheld moisture meter devices for measuring the moisture content of paper and paper products such as cardboard, paperboard, corrugated boxes, craft paper, wrapping paper, brown packaging paper, butcher paper, recycled paper, coated paper and more. Different paper moisture meter models utilize different paper moisture measuring techniques, performing moisture content tests of paper products via either destructive or nondestructive methods. Typically, a standard pinless paper moisture meter is nonpenetrating, thus allowing for the nondestructive measurement of paper water content.

Radiation Detectors
A radiation detector is a device for measuring nuclear, electromagnetic or light radiation. A nuclear radiation detector identifies nuclear radiation by measuring the emission of ionizing radiation of alpha particles, beta particles and gamma rays. Also referred to as a geiger counter, a nuclear radiation detector consists of two main elements: the processing electronics and the geiger tube. The geiger tube is filled with low-pressure inert gas like helium, argon or neon. If radioactive radiation occurs, the inert gas is ionized. An anode within the geiger tube registers the quantity of ionized particles numerically correlating with the strength of the radioactive radiation. The radioactivity measurement is then displayed on the LCD screen of the geiger counter or nuclear radiation detector.

The most widely recognized temperature meter is a mercury thermometer used to measure the temperature of people. These thermometers consist of a graduated glass capillary with a pool of mercury in one end. However, there are many different types of temperature meters, such as digital thermometers that take temperature measurements on contact with an object or infrared temperature meters that take measurements at distance, without contact.

Handheld Tachometers
The handheld tachometer is a means of measuring revolutions within the industrial sector, either optically or mechanically. The handheld tachometer can be used for maintenance and calibration of machines that have moving parts. The principle is similar to a bicycle speedometer, where time will be measured until a wheel has completely turned. The handheld tachometer has two different measurement methods. The handheld tachometer may have a contact connection to the moving parts. Alternatively, the handheld tachometer works with reflecting marks. This will be secured on the moving part. As the laser strikes the reflecting mark during rotation, it will be reflected and detected in the handheld tachometer via a sensor. Rotation speed and speed can be seen on the handheld tachometer. The handheld tachometer may combine both possibilities (contact and non-contact connection). Next to the handheld tachometer you find other devices for measuring revolutions at PCE Instruments.

Particle Counters
A particle counter is a useful tool for monitoring indoor air quality (IAQ) in clean rooms and workplaces, as a particle counter measures the concentration of particles in the air. While a particle counter won't identify specifically what kinds of dusts or particulates are present in the air, a particle counter will identify how many airborne particles of a certain size are present in the environment. A conclusion is then drawn based on the known materials in the area and the corresponding airborne particle sizes of those materials. Here at PCE, We can offer you a wide range of dust particle analyzers to suit your needs.
