MIMO Vibration Control Overview
MIMO Testing has gained a huge momentum in the past decade with the development of multiple shaker table systems, the availability of Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) controllers, and the readiness of the standards (e.g., Mil STD 810G method 527 and IEST DTE 022 working group recommendation). The Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) Control System includes the following:

Frequency Response Function
FRF
FFT Spectral Analysis. Frequency Response Function (FRF) is a commonly used measurement type of the Dynamic Signal Analyzer. FRF is defined as the ratio of response i.e. acceleration, velocity, or displacement with respect to the excitation force which is the reference.

Dynamic Signal Analyzer & Data Recorder
Spider-20
The Spider-20 series of products are compact yet powerful data acquisition and dynamic measurement systems. These units provide four 24-bit precise high-fidelity input channels, and a unique software-selectable tachometer-input/signal-source output channel.

Multiple Shaker Control
EDM Multi-Shaker Control (MSC) is a software option included in the EDM testing package along with VCS. Multiple Shaker Control provides one centralized interface to interact with multiple controllers running separate tests at the same time. Multi-shaker controllers are not time synchronized unlike in MIMO VCS, in which all drives are time synchronized.

512 Channel Systems
Spider-80X/Spider-80Xi
The Spider-80X is designed for applications in three fields: dynamic data acquisition, vibration control, and machine monitoring. Each front-end features eight analog input channels and two channels that may be software selected as analog outputs for vibration control or tachometer inputs for the analysis of rotating machinery.

Vibration Visualization
It is difficult to imagine the actual vibration level and distribution from the numerical display or signals, which are basically a mathematical representation of the vibration experienced by the structure under test. Animating the structure’s deformation provides users with a clearer representation of the intensity from vibration.

Real Time Digital Filters
Real Time Digital Filters can be used to filter a measured signal in real time. Filter characteristics can be defined by the user to meet the requirements of a specific application. Real-time digital filters are applied in the data conditioning phase. The filters are designed with a graphic design tool and then uploaded to the front-end for real-time calculation. The graphic design tool defines the filter performance vertical axis with a dB scale. The horizontal axis is defined as relative frequency.

Operational Modal Testing
EDM Modal Operational Modal Testing (OMA Testing) includes a dedicated test setup and operation process flow using ambient vibration data. Using a large channel count data acquisition system (e.g., Spider- 80X or Spider-80Xi), the excitation method provides a much higher efficiency and accuracy for FRF measurements while minimizing local stresses on the test article.

Route Based Vibration Data Collector
The Crystal Instruments CoCo series are portable devices for vibration monitoring and predictive maintenance applications. The system consists of a CoCo analyzer and the Engineering Data Management (EDM) software. The CoCo is used to make field measurements and the EDM software in Vibration Data Collector (VDC) Mode is used to setup the CoCo hardware and define routes before field measurements, and to download data from the CoCo to analyze and archive afterwards.
